The show ran from 1935 thru the mid 40's, aired out of WJR. Detroit. Olga Coal sponsored the show from ca. 1937. The owner of WJR, G.A. Richards, later started a separate broadcast of the show from his
west coast station, KMPC which ran from 1940 thru 1942.
Involved with the show were:
For WJR, John Kent, Charles Penman, Toby Grimmer and Klock Ryder, all as the Hermit. Also appearing where Lillian Popkin, Margery Richmond, Jack Kessler, Ted Johnstone, Jan Koste, Bill Saunders,
Paul Hughes and Rollon Parker. Producer-writer was Eric Howlett. The sound effects was handled by Sidney Brechner and John Foster. For KMPC, John Dehner was the Hermit. Others appearing in different
roles were Elliott Lewis, Tyler McVey, William Hall, and Shirley Crowell to mention a few. The music was handled by Rex Koury. William Conrad was doing the duties of actor-producer with Bill Forman also as producer.
The writers were Lou Huston and Herbert R. Connor. The sound effects were handled by Dwight Hauser.
